Richland was part of several thousand acres patented by Giles Brent in the early 1650s. In 1654 Giles gave his sister, Mary Brent, 1,040 acres called the “rich land” on Aquia Creek. This tract included what we know today as the Wide Water Peninsula.
Located just outside of Washington, DC Potomac Point Winery was built upon a parcel from the historic 1040 acre farm called Richland. The sandy loam soil on the undulating hills makes the perfect terroir to grow their estate varietals.
Potomac Point grows our varietals on property, consisting of Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Manseng in addition to sparkling wines.
The additional varietals needed to produce 11 different wines are grown in different appellations around Virginia.
