Merlot Meadow will open for the season on Sunday, April 27th, 2025!

Nestled on a scenic five-acre stretch of Potomac Point Winery’s property, Merlot Meadow is home to over 700 baby Merlot vines, offering a peaceful retreat for wine lovers looking to unwind. With breathtaking vineyard views, and a relaxed atmosphere, this space is perfect for those seeking a casual experience for groups of up to 6 guests.

This charming outdoor space features:
✨ Outdoor Lounge Tent – Cozy lounge seating for relaxation. Groups 7+ guests must call ahead to book a reservation.
✨ Picnic Tables – Enjoy your favorite wines and picnic bites al fresco; great for groups of 2-6 guests. 
✨ Bocce Ball Court – A fun way to sip and play, simply ask at the bar for equipment (we will hold your ID until returned)
✨ Vineyard Circles – Six Adirondack chairs surrounding scenic vineyard, great for groups of up to 6 guests.

How to Enjoy Merlot Meadow

On Saturdays (11:30AM-6:30PM) & Sundays (11:30AM-5:30PM), Merlot Meadow serves as an overflow area for guests looking to grab a bottle of wine and picnic foods from our tasting room before settling in to enjoy the serenity of the vines. This space is typically unstaffed and walk-in only, making it the ideal place for a laid-back afternoon. Groups larger than six should call ahead for availability.

Special Events & Experiences

On select days, Merlot Meadow transforms into an event space, featuring food trucks, live music, outdoor movie nights, and more. During these special occasions, our Wine & Food Tent will be open, offering wines by the glass or bottle, as well as picnic-friendly bites. Some event days may require reservations or ticket purchases, so be sure to check our events calendar for upcoming experiences.

No reservations required on most weekends—just bring your love of wine, good company, and a desire to relax among the vines. We’ll see you in Merlot Meadow!

IMPORTANT MERLOT MEADOW INFORMATION:

Welcome to Potomac Point Winery’s Merlot Meadow! When you arrive, follow signs for Merlot Meadow, you will drive around the back side of the building to park. To ensure that everyone has a pleasant experience, we kindly ask that you follow the below rules and regulations:

  • Merlot Meadow is a self-service area where you can purchase wine and light picnic foods from our tasting room or walk-up Wine & Food Tent on select days. We encourage you to bring your own platters, plates, and utensils if you plan to bring outside food.
  • Unfortunately, Bistro Food & Wine Cakes are not available in Merlot Meadow at this time.
  • To maintain a peaceful environment for all guests, we do not permit outside music or decorations in Merlot Meadow.
  • Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.
  • Outside alcohol is not permitted on-property.
  • We kindly ask that all groups with more than 6 guests call ahead to see if they can be accommodated.
