Merlot Meadow is a five-acre piece of Potomac Point Winery’s property and home to over 700 baby merlot vines.  Enjoy beautiful views, delicious wines and a casual relaxing experience in Merlot Meadow.  Merlot Meadow is open Saturdays from 12pm-6pm through Oct. 7th, 2023. This is a self-service area with a walk-up Wine & Food Tent serving picnic foods, wine flights, and wine by the bottle.  Merlot Meadow accepts reservations for 2-20 guests and welcomes walk-in groups of up to 6 guests based on availability.  Please check our event calendar for potential Merlot Meadow closings.

Merlot Meadow offers four different experiences to choose from:

Outdoor Lounge Tent: Enjoy our outdoor lounge for a true grape-to-glass experience!  Spend the afternoon in a Merlot Meadow lounge area, surrounded by young merlot vines.  Each reservation includes 2.5 hours to enjoy under our large tent.  Wine & picnic foods will be available for purchase at our food & wine tent.  Different sized Lounge areas are available, perfect for groups of 4-20 based on availability.  This is a Self-Service, Adult Only, Pet free Area.  $10/person to rent a lounge section.

Bocce Ball: Have a ball at Potomac Point Winery with our new bocce ball court in Merlot Meadow!  Fun for any age, it is a great way to take in the scenery while sipping and swirling.  Bocce ball rental includes the use of our bocce ball court for two hours, all necessary bocce ball equipment, and seating for up to 16 guests.  $20 flat fee.

Picnic: Reserve a picnic table nestled in merlot meadow, surrounded by newly planted merlot vines.  Our most casual and relaxed experience!  Wine is available to enjoy by flight or bottle.  Picnic foods & wine can be purchased from our Food & Wine Tent.  This self-service area is perfect for groups of 2-12. $15 flat fee per picnic table (applied towards future wine purchase).

Firepit: Cozy up with one of PPW’s four firepit areas in Merlot Meadow.  Relax in Adirondack chairs, take in the views of newly planted vines, and enjoy your wine fireside.  Each reservation includes 2 hours to enjoy.  Firepit areas are best for groups of 2-8.  $35 Flat Fee.

IMPORTANT MERLOT MEADOW INFORMATION:

Welcome to Potomac Point Winery’s Merlot Meadow! When you arrive, follow signs for Merlot Meadow, you will drive around the back side of the building to park and check-in at Merlot Meadow (you do not need to stop into the tasting room). To ensure that everyone has a pleasant experience, we kindly ask that you follow the below rules and regulations:

  • Merlot Meadow is a self-service area where you can purchase wine and picnic foods from our walk-up Wine & Food Tent. We encourage you to bring your own platters, plates, and utensils if you plan to bring outside food.
  • Unfortunately, Wine Cakes are not available in Merlot Meadow at this time.
  • To maintain a peaceful environment for all guests, we do not permit outside music or decorations in Merlot Meadow.
  • Please be mindful of your reservation start time, as we cannot guarantee an extension if your party arrives late. There may be other parties booked immediately after your group. However, we offer a one-hour grace period before giving your reservation away. If you are running late, please give us a call to let us know.
  • Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.
  • Picnic, Bocce Ball, and Firepit groups will have 2 hours to enjoy their experience, while Outdoor Lounge groups will have 2.5 hours.
  • We kindly ask that no outside alcohol is brought on-property.
  • If you need to cancel your reservation, please do so a minimum of 24 hours prior to your reservation start time for Picnic, Bocce Ball, and Firepit reservations, and 48 hours prior for Outdoor Lounge reservations. You can cancel directly through Tock to receive a full refund within the allotted timeframe. If we need to cancel your reservation for any reason, including inclement weather, you will be notified as soon as possible and given a full refund by the original payment method.
  • In the event of certain rain or thunderstorms, we will permit a cancellation with a minimum notice of 2 hours prior to your reservation start time for picnic table, bocce ball, or firepit reservations. Additionally, if it is too windy or too hot to accommodate a firepit, you can still enjoy your reservation and we will refund the firepit fee.
